Auroville – It is known as the city of Dawn. It was found in 1968 by Sri Aurobindo and Mira Alfassa and designed by French architect Roger Anger. When this place was inaugurated, soil from 124 places was put in a lotus-shaped urn which symbolizes the image of a universal town. The town has a population of 2007 people from different countries.

Promenade Beach - This lovely beach has various landmarks and sculptures including the Statue of Joan of Arc, Mahatma Gandhi, Old lighthouse etc. It is around 1.5 meters long.

Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus – It was built in December 1907. It has beautiful gothic style architecture and is a famous pilgrim spot. The Church is 50 meters long, 48 meters wide and 18 meters high held by 24 columns. The windows have beautiful stained glass paintings of 28 saints. The church was renovated and restored in 2005. 

Botanical Garden– It was set up in 1826 and shows lot of French influence. There are gravel-lined paths, pruned trees and fountains. Many exotic plants can be found here. There are shows at the musical fountain in the evening. 

Pondicherry Museum - It is situated in Bharathi Park in the center of the city. Many archeological findings from Arikamendu Roman settlement are on display here. Also there are rare statues of ancient Chola and Pallava dynasty. There are many handicrafts made of shells on display here.  

French War Memorial – It was built in 1971. The memorial is illuminated each year on Bastille Day (14th July) to pay homage to the soldiers. 

Sri Varadaraja Perumal Temple – It is said to be the oldest Hindu temple in Pondicherry dating back to 600 AD. It is built in Dravidian style. It is dedicated to incarnation of Lord Vishnu. 

Ousteri Wetland and National Park - It covers an area of 3.9 Sq. KM. It has large variety of flora and fauna. Houseboats can be rented here. It is home to many migratory birds.

Immaculate Conception Cathedral – It is a 300-year-old church. Its construction started 1791 and many improvements were made till 1987. It was visited by Mother Teresa. It is also known as Samba Kovil by the local residents.  

Sri Aurobindo Ashram – It is a spiritual community center. There are many offices, library, Printing press, playground, Art gallery, dairy, farms, guest houses, bakeries etc. in the main building. Visiting hours are from 8 AM to 12 PM and 2 PM to 6 PM
