Lake of Fires in Azure area of Portugal

This beautiful lake is known as ‘Lake of Fires’ in Azure area of Portugal. This lake was formed after a volcanic eruption thousands of years back. There is a lake right near to the volcano and another big lake is adjacent to it. There are many whales in the big lake and can be viewed from the lake end. These lakes are situated on Sao Miguel Island, which is one of the favorite places of tourists. There are seven big craters nearby which are due to volcanic eruptions.

Due to tectonic movements, this area is also known as ‘Junction of Eurasian’. This area is between North American and African plates. Sao Miguel’s population is about 1.4 lakhs and there are many excellent universities here. The local cuisine is delicious and attracts the tourists.
