Top 10 must see places and tourist destination points spots in Delhi: Qutab Minar – It was constructed to honor the victory and the commencement of Mughal era in India. It is a 73-meter tall tower. It was built by Qutab-ud-din Aibak. It has five storeys and has projected balconies on each. Red sandstone was used in the construction of first three storeys; marble and sandstone were used to construct the last two storeys. Quwwat-ul-Islam, India’s first mosque is at the foot of Qutab Minar.

Lotus Temple – It resembles the lotus flower, which is also the national flower of India. Lotus highlights four religions namely Hinduism, Islam, Buddhism, and Jainism. There are seven such major Lotus temples constructed around the world. It was completed in 1986 and pure white marble was used in the construction. This is open for prayers and meditation by people of all religions. The nine pools of water around the petals is a wonderful sight to watch at dusk.

India Gate – It was constructed in the year 1931. It is a war memorial for over soldiers killed during First World War and Afghan War. Around 70,000 soldiers lost their lives for the country that time. The names of all the soldiers are inscribed in the walls of India Gate. It was earlier called as “All India War Memorial.” It is situated on Rajpath. India Gate looks stunning at dawn and night. 

Lodhi Gardens –  It was built in 1936 by British around the tombs of the rulers of 15th and 16th centuries. This is a 90-acre Garden. It is a popular favorite among locals and tourists for relaxation, walking, jogging, and enjoying the beauty of nature. The National Bonsai Park is situated in the Gardens.

Humayun’s Tomb – It is a monument built by Queen Haji Begum, who was the widow of Humayun. The monument is inspired greatly by Persian architecture. The world famous Taj Mahal has many similarities to this. It was constructed during early Mughal rule in India. It is open all days of week.

Red Fort – This is a representation of Mughal rule in India. This was built in 1638. It is a magnificent monument. The 33m high walls of Red Fort were built to prevent invasions during war with enemies. Every evening a sound and light show is conducted here. The one-hour long show presents historical events associated with Red Fort. The Fort is closed on Monday.

Connaught Place – It is known for its happy vivacious and active atmosphere and planned layout. It is a happening place for for the businesspersons as well as tourists both from the country and abroad. There is a Hanuman Mandir here, which is an ancient temple and has been mentioned in Guinness Book of Records. Jantar Mantar is also located here, which is an ancient astronomical observatory of 18th century. Maharaja Agrasen ki Baoli and State Emporiums are also in the vicinity.

Chandni Chowk – It is one of the main marketplaces in Delhi. It was created by Shah Jahan. There is a legend that  Shah Jahan planned Chandni Chowk so that his daughter could shop there. In the past, the market was divided by canals but those canals now closed. It is Asia's largest wholesale market. It is one of the oldest and busiest markets in central north Delhi, the Laal Quila (The Red Fort) and Fateh Puri Masjid are in close vicinity. 

Cathedral Church of Redemption -  It is also known as Viceroy Church. It is located east of Parliament House and Rashtrapati Bhavan, which was used by then viceroy of British India. So all these places can be visited in close proximity. The Church derives its name from Palladio's Church of Il Redentore in Venice as well as Lutyens St Jude's Church, Hampstead Garden Suburb. Cathedral was built in such a manner that even in the extreme summers it remains cool. It is visited by thousands of locals and foreign tourists all around the year.

Gurdwara Bangla Sahib - It is one of the most prominent and largest Gurdwaras in Delhi; Gurdwara Bangla Sahib is the most visited one in the Delhi, as much of the population is Punjabis. Millions of tourists and locals visit this Gurdwara from all over the world and of all religions to offer their prayers. The Gurdwara marks the place where the eighth Sikh Guru, Guru Harkrishan.
