Top 10 must visit temples in India: Shrinath Ji Temple Nathdwra – It is a beautiful renowned temple dedicated to Shrinath ji at Nathdwara near Udaipur. The temple was built in 1672. Haveli is a term used for temple also as it was situated in the palace of Sisodia Rajputs of Mewar. There is a kalash on top of temple with seven flags around the Sudarshan chakra. Shrinathji is seen as lord or Thakur of haveli and dedicated services are offered in the same way. There are various rooms in temple for Shrinathji as a regular householder has and a chariot for movement of Lord Shrinathji. Shrinathji is also an incarnation of Lord Krishna. The statue is made of single black marble. 

Jaganath Temple Puri – It is a famous Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Jagannath situated at Puri in Odisha. It is also a part of Char Dham pilgrimage, which Hindus is supposed to take during their lifetime. Most Hindu Gods are made of stone or metal but Lord Jagannath statue is made of wood. Each twelve or nineteen years these Statues are replaced by new ones using the scared trees. This process or ritual is called as Navakalevara or new embodiment. This temple was built in twelfth century and is famous for its annual chariot festival or rath yatra. 

Somnath Temple Gujarat – The Somnath temple is located in western Gujarat. This is a scared temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is located near the seaside. This temple was destroyed many times by Islam rulers and later rebuilt by Hindu kings. It is also said that Lord Krishna went to heavenly abode from this place. The temple is built in such a way that there is no land in a straight line between the temple and Antarctica.

Golden Temple - It is also known as Harmandir Sahib or Darbar Sahib and is the holiest place of Sikhs. It is located at Amritsar Punjab. The four doors of the Golden temple are symbols of openness of Sikhs towards all religions. The holiest scripture of Sikhs the Guru Granth Sahib is present at Daytime and goes to Sukhasan at nighttime. The golden temple welcomes men woman children from all walks of life to come and pray. Around 100,000 people visit the Golden temple daily for worship and free kitchen community meal langar.

Siddhivinayak temple – It is a Hindu temple dedicated to Ganesha and is located at Mumbai. It was built in 1801. It is one of the richest temples in Mumbai. It receives donations of about a 100 million each year and it makes this temple the richest in Mumbai. In 2006, specific guidelines were given to temple trust to manage the funds appropriately. 

Badrinath Temple – It is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It is situated in Uttrakhand. It is one of the four dhams or char dhams temples. It is open for 6 months each year between April and November. The statute of Vishnu is one-meter tall made of black stone. It is said in scriptures that the temple was present in 1750 BC too but there are no specific records of date of its build.

Konark sun temple – It is also known a sun temple and is located at Konark Odisha. It was built in the 13th century. The temple is in the symbol of a big chariot with stone-carved wheels, pillars, and walls. It is also a world heritage site. Konark means corner and Arka means sun and this is dedicated to the Sun.

Kedarnath temple – It is a Hindu temple and dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is situated in Uttrakhand. It is open from April to early November due to extreme climate in the later part of year. There is no direct road and there is a 14 kms uphill track from Gaurikund, which can be trekked by foot or by, ponies, or in cot held by bearers. Now there is a helicopter service to reach the 14 kms track. It is one of the sites of char dham pilgrimage. 

Sanchi Stupa – This Buddhist place is located at Madhya Pradesh. It was built by King Ashoka. The construction was seen by his wife Devi who was from Sanchi. It has famous relics of Lord Buddha. It is adorned with carved pillars and is a beautiful dome structure and has many fresco paintings. There is a famous pillar of Ashoka principles inscription there.

Vaishno Devi – The temple is the most famous temple in India. It is aid that the goddesses herself sends invitation to her devotees to come visit her. This is the reincarnation of Goddess Mahalakshmi or Goddesses of wealth. It is located in Jammu and Kashmir. Each year more than 10 million devotees visit the temple.
