Nainital Lake – It is also known as Naini Lake. Its name was formed, as it resembles eye of the goddesses. This lake is so serene, beautiful, and calm and is in the middle of the city. Swimming or loitering is not allowed as the government takes extreme measures to preserve the water as it is the lifeline and water source of the city. Boating is allowed in the lake. All around the lake are markets and shops.

Gurney House – It was the house and residence of famous Jim Corbett in earlier days. This was built in 1881 and is near the Naini Lake. It was made of recycled and reused materials of another house on the lake. When Jim Corbett left for Kenya, he sold this house.

Kilbury Bird Sanctuary – It is located on an altitude of 2000 meters above sea level. It has many different kinds of species of birds. Around 240 migratory and residential birds are seen here. One can reach the sanctuary by visiting a beautiful village called Pangot in the woods. 

Snow View – This site can be assessed by ropeway or cable car. It is one of the best viewpoints on Nainital. The amazing snow –capped Himalayan peaks are visible clearly from here. Nanda Devi and Trishul peaks can be viewed and photographed easily. This beautiful place can be visited between 10 am to 5 pm. Each hour one spends here is charged.

Land’s End – It is a trekker’s paradise. It is a very beautiful location at an altitude of 2118 meters above sea level. Amazing views of forests of Pine trees and mountains are visible from this point.

Naina Peak – It is also called Cheena or China Peak. It is the highest place and is located at an altitude of 2615 meters above sea level. Tourist can visit here for amazing views of mountains and calmness. It is also a very good spot for trekking or walking for nature lovers.

Dorothy’ Seat/Tiffin Top – On a whopping height of 2292 meters above sea level on Aryapatta Hill Tiffin top is a worthwhile experience. It is named after an English Painter. It is said that the painter used to sit on Tiffin top and paint exquisite paintings of Nainital and the mountains and forests. Therefore, it was named Dorothy’s seat after the painter’s name Dorothy Kellet. 

St John’s – It is a beautiful ancient church located at the end of town on northern side. It was named after Bishop of Calcutta. It is a neo-gothic style church and is hidden in the dense forests of Deodar trees. 

GB Pant Zoo – This is a high altitude zoo at 2100 meters above sea level. It has many species of endangered naive animals. One can find Snow Leopard, Himalayan Bear, and Tibetan Wolf here. In addition, many species of birds are found here. It was opened for public in 1995.

Eco Cave Gardens – It is beautiful connected network of caves. It is a famous spot attracting many tourists of all ages. It has seven caves, which are reached through a narrow route. Kids and adults both enjoy his place. It also has musical fountain shows.
