10 Best Places cities to Visit in Chhattisgarh Achanakumar Wildlife Sanctuary – It is located around 60 km from Bilaspur. This wildlife sanctuary has many species of wild animals including Bison, Sambhar deer, Leopard, Tiger etc. There are watchtowers erected in various parts of the park. Watchtowers are the ideal way to spot animals here, as the forests are very dense.
Maitri Bagh – This garden was established by Bhilai Steel Plant. Maitri means friendship. There is a zoo also inside the garden. Also, there are lakes and water fountains inside the garden. It is a famous picnic spot.
Chitrakot Waterfalls – It is also known as Niagara Falls of India. It is known to be the broadest waterfall of India. It falls from a height of 96 feet. Its width is more than 1000 feet during the peak season. The waterfall is surrounded with forests from all side and offers a spectacular view.
Bastar Palace – The Palace is a beautiful monument with excellent architecture. It proudly depicts the folklore of bravery of ancient times. There is intricate carving on the walls of the palace. There is also the facility of the horse carriage.
Gadiya Mountain – This is the highest mountain in Kanker. The cave on the mountain was used by the Royal family of Kind Dharma Dev for hiding from enemies. Another cave called Jogi Gufa is located on the other side of the mountain and this was used by the saints to meditate. Folklore says that the water here never gets dried up.
Bhoramdeo Temple – This ancient heritage temple is a must visit. It is also known as Khajuraho of Chhattisgarh. It is said it was built in time periods between 7th and 11th century. The temple has many religious and erotic sculptures and statues which are so life-like. The Maikal Mountains surround the temple.
Kanker Palace – This was rebuilt in 1937. This beautiful palace is inspired by colonial architecture. The palace is surrounded by lush green gardens and is a very beautiful sight. Boat riding and Jeep Safari’s are available here.
Kailash and Kutumsar Caves – It is located around 40 km from Jagdalpur near Tiratgarh Waterfalls. These are famous as second longest caves in the world. These caves are 2kms deep. There is dearth of oxygen inside the caves beyond a certain point and the entry is restricted after that point. These caves were discovered in the year 1993. The caves provide musical echo.
Kawardha Palace – It is located on top of Maikal Hills. The hills stand at 941 meters above sea level altitude. The beautiful palace is spread over 11 acres area. It is surrounded by lush green gardens. It has now been converted into a heritage hotel.
Rajpuri Waterfalls – It is located among beautiful natural landscape and tribal village settings all around the area.
