China''s first eco-friendly overwater highway

An Eco-friendly overwater highway opened in the Hubei province- 
This is included in best road trip destination by a popular travel magazine. 

This overwater highway, which is located in Hubei in central China, was inaugurated on 9th August. It overlooks the river, mountains, and various villages. Around 6.8 miles is on the water as it is located at center of the river valley. This high-speed route connects western China with southern China. 

After this highway was made, the journey distance between Jingshan to G42 has reduced from hours to 20 minutes. The road has been built on a bridge over the river and is an attraction point for travelers.

It has been coined as world’s most scenic highway. Along with it is the first ecofriendly highway of China. It is around 10.9 kms long and 4.4 kms is above water.

According to project manager earlier, there were three proposals, two being regarding a tunnel between two mountains and third being highway on the river. Engineers wanted to save the trees so they chose the third proposal.

World’s one of the most beautiful Desert

Recently a travel website has included this Desert in world’s top 10 beautiful Deserts. It is the biggest salt desert of central Iran. This desert is 390 km long. 


  • Rain is negligible here. Because of lack of rain, the upper part of desert is filled with salt layer remains. This adds to the beauty of the desert. In summers, the mercury shoots to more than 50 degrees here. There is no special arrangement to stay in this desert.
  • Kavir National Park is also located here. Many people come from far to camp and trek here. However, rainfall is scanty but there is snowfall every winter. In winters, the temperature is about 22 degrees and day and night temperatures differ.
  • It is called as Salt - Mesh of Salt in some places. It is the world’s 23rd biggest desert with an area of 77,600 square kms.

Ghum – It is situated at six km from Darjeeling. Ghum railways station is en-route to Darjeeling’s Hill cart road. Many routes go from Ghum to various scenic places like Sonada, Thung, Kursiyong etc. Siliguri and Kalimpong are nearby to Ghum.

Antrim, Northern Ireland – This is the biggest bridge in North Ireland. This was formed after a volcano eruption many years back. Around 40,000 stones, which are formed in a column, are remains of an extinct volcano. One has to go through these stones for seeing this beautiful structure. 




Fly Geyser – This is an amazing man made geyser. This was made in 1916 and was left at its accord. This transformed itself into a 10 to 12 feet long calcium cone. Natural hot water fountains can be viewed at this beautiful place. The backdrop around this place resembles of an alien planet. Earlier there were many colorful fishes and cranes in the swimming pools here, which are seen very less nowadays.




Deadvlei – This out of the world place looks like a graveyard of dead trees. It has a different charm to it. Situated in Namib Naukluft Park of Namibia this place is surrounded by high sand hills out of which one is called Atlas Obscura. Atlas stands at a whopping height of 1312 feet. Many years back there was a river flowing here, which dried up due to weather, and topographic changes and thus all trees dried up. Now only the ruins and fossils of the trees remain. However, some trees are still growing and this places tells the story of climate change of past. 




The Wave, Arizona – These are actually big rocks situate on a high altitude of 5225 feet. These are situated in Colorado. These look like waves of water from a distance comprising of many colors and attract the tourists. It feels like one is in the midst of sea here. According to paleontologists, Dinosaurs used to live here millions of years back.  





Tunnel of Love Ukraine – Ukraine boasts of many years old Tramway which is a part of three km line made for a fiberboard factory. The dense foliage of trees and creepers on both sides of this tramway has formed into a beautiful natural tunnel. Its amazing beauty has termed it as tunnel of love. Some people also believe that if one asks for a wish here with a pure heart then it is granted. The prime focus of this place is the color change of natural tunnel three times a year. Most Haunted Hotel – Fairmont Banff Springs – It is located in Canada. It has been put under top 10 haunted hotels of world recently. This hotel has many stories related to ghosts. The hotel celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2013. The land around hotel is full of greenery. The hotel stands out with backdrop of snowy mountains.







Buzludzha MonumentBuzludzha Monument is located in Bulgaria. Central Balkan mountain’s historic peak is also located here. It stands at a height of 1441 meters. It was opened for tourists in the year 1981. The government does not look after that now. This was the last place of war between the Bulgarian and Ottoman empires. Deepest Lake – Jökulsárlón Lake – This glacial lake is located in south Iceland. The length of lake changes due to melting of glacier. The icebergs are found in two colors here, viz: white and blue. This lake has been cinematographed in many Hollywood films like Die another day, A view to kill, Lara croft Tomb Raider and Batman Begins. This is a very scenic place. This has been stated as Iceland’s deepest lake recently. Its depth is 248 meters.
